How the country is laid out
Not one destination — a continent. Fly between regions, then rent a car except NYC/Chicago/SF/Boston/DC cores. Northeast corridor is walkable transit. South and West are cars. Alaska and Hawaii are separate trips. Sales tax 4–10% extra at the register; NYC hotel tax can hit mid-teens.
